Graphic Packaging is celebrating three wins at the prestigious Ameristar Awards, including the coveted Best-in-Show award.

The prizewinning packs include the pressed board vacuum skin packaging (VSP) trays for UK retailer Morrisons, and the first-to-market, premium paperboard solution for L’Oreal for their Garnier GOOD brand. Hosted by the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP), these awards celebrate cutting-edge packaging innovations and design excellence.

Best-in-Show Award: L’Oreal Garnier GOOD hair coloration pack

The Best-in-Show title went to Garnier GOOD’s first-to-market concept for hair coloration. This paperboard cup combines form and function to create a more convenient hair coloration experience for consumers that offers better functionality, excellent color reproduction, and great on-shelf impact. The cup and lid are produced using renewable wood-based fiber sourced from sustainably managed forests and use 45 percent less plastic than traditional box and bottle solutions. Its sleek design, combined with high-quality graphics and metallic accents, delivers a unique and premium on-shelf presence.

Morrisons Pressed Board Vacuum Skin Packaging (VSP) trays

These innovative pressed board vacuum skin packaging (VSP) trays have been adopted by UK retailer Morrisons across their full range of private label steaks. The premium “The Best” range utilizes photographic print on the front face of the tray—a world first in the pressed board tray category. The core range is produced with unbleached paperboard, creating a kraft look, while the entry-level ‘Savers’ range is produced with bleached paperboard, providing clear aesthetic differentiation between the ranges.

Not only do the trays look great, but the new solution uses 90 percent less plastic than Morrisons’ previous trays, eliminating 250 metric tons of plastic waste from the supply chain every year.

“We are honoured to be the recipients of these Ameristar Awards that are a true celebration of collaboration and innovation,” said Ricardo de Genova, SVP & Chief Innovation Officer at Graphic Packaging. “They are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaborative spirit of customers and our own teams, who have been instrumental in bringing these innovative packaging solutions to life. Congratulations to everyone involved in these winning projects.”
