In January 2024, Graphic Packaging received an AA “Leader” rating for the second year in a row. The MSCI ESG Rating measures a company’s management of financially relevant ESG risks and opportunities using a rules-based methodology to identify industry leaders and laggards according to their exposure to ESG risks and how well they manage those risks relative to peers.

We are regularly assessed by the ESG rating provider ISS ESG, receiving a C+ rating in 2023, which puts us in the Prime rating status for our industry. ISS ESG company ratings provide investors with insights to effectively incorporate sustainability in their investment decisions to minimize ESG risks, comply with evolving regulatory and stakeholder requirements, and seize opportunities.

We are regularly assessed by the ESG rating provider Sustainalytics on our ESG risk exposure and ESG risk management. In May 2023, we received an ESG Risk Rating of 17.8 and were assessed by Sustainalytics to be at low risk of experiencing material financial impacts from ESG factors, due to its medium exposure and strong management of material ESG issues.

We support the ten principles of the Global Compact by incorporating them in our business strategies and our corporate culture. Our ‘Communication on Progress’ report highlights our progress upholding the 10 principles and our actions to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Graphic Packaging pro-actively discloses its impact on climate change, forests, and water security through the CDP (formerly Climate Disclosure Project), a global non-profit that runs the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform. In 2022, our CDP climate and water ratings were at the ‘Leadership’ level and forest remained at the ‘Management’ level. 

In February 2024, we received the EcoVadis Committed sustainability badge and were rated in the top 85th percentile of evaluated companies. The EcoVadis assessment is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of sustainability into their business and management system.

Graphic Packaging was recognized for the second year in a row by Fortune as one of the World’s Most Admired companies. The recognition reflects input from executives, directors, and analysts to rate enterprises in their own industry on nine criteria, from investment value and quality of management and products to social responsibility and ability to attract talent.

In 2023, Graphic Packaging was recognized for the first time on the 100 Best Corporate Citizens List (rank #32). 100 Best Corporate Citizens recognizes outstanding ESG transparency and performance among the 1,000 largest, publicly-traded U.S. companies. 3BL develops the methodology and ISS ESG researches the data and information and processes the ranking.
